Pursuant to the Elections and Plebiscites Act, a territorial general election must be instituted by a Writ of Election issued by the Chief Electoral Officer on instructions provided by order of the Commissioner.

On October 20, the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories signed the Writ of Election Order.

Following the dissolution of the 17th Legislative Assembly on October 25, the Chief Electoral Officer will issue the Writs of Election for the 2015 Territorial General Election on Monday, October 26.

General Polling Day for the 2015 Territorial General Election will be Monday, November 23.
