Following the dissolution of the 17th Legislative Assembly on October 25, the Chief Electoral Officer of the Northwest Territories has issued the Writs of Election for the 2015 Territorial General Election.
General Polling Day for the 2015 Territorial General Election will be Monday, November 23.
Returning Officers in each of the 19 electoral districts will be available to assist electors and prospective candidates during posted office hours.
For those communities that do not have a resident Returning Officer, a local Community Deputy Returning Officer will be available to act as a liaison between Returning Officers and community members in their district. Contact information is available online at www.electionsnwt.ca/returning-officers.
The nomination period for prospective candidates is from October 26 to October 30 at 2:00pm. Candidates have until 5:00pm on October 30 to withdraw. Nomination Papers are available online or from the Returning Officer in the electoral district in which the prospective candidate seeks election. NWT residents have until 1:00pm on November 5 to update their information or add their name to the Register of Electors. You can register online or by contacting your Returning Officer.
